Cole and Calhoun and Cannon doing a re-enactment of the Oswald Shooting
Bobby Cole and Kevin Calhoun have been
friends for close to 20 years. They worked side by side during the
entire run of Bobby's New Jersey famous restaurant Soda Pop
Shopfrom 1999-2007. They worked on creating the unique
menu filled with puns, some funny and some corny. Most of the art
work that filled the entire place and even on the walls were hand
drawn by Kevin. They were always redesigning the shop every other
month.
Their friendship started before the birth of
the Soda Pop Shop, but it was here that they knew that they had a
many more things in common that was dear to their hearts. Kevin has
been involved in theater much of his life in front of the camera as
well as behind it. He began doing stand up comedy back in the early
1980's at the famous Rascals comedy club in West Orange, New Jersey.
He went on to do voice over work and acting and appeared in many
regional and national commercials on television. Kevin is a master
artist and has amassed a huge portfolio. Look for his work on
cafepress.com soon.
Bobby's story a little different. He began
playing keyboards at the age of three and believes music and comedy
are the two main reasons why he is on the planet. Unfortunately for
him he was so shy growing up that it prohibited him from playing in
front of anyone. It wasn't until he was in his late 20's that
he finally got the nerve to play on stage with his first band the
"Distractions".He got married and
settled on becoming a Newark Fireman. Completely unhappy from day
one, he always looked for outside sources to keep him content.
In 1995 he helped form the Pop 60's cover
band "Carnaby St.". This was a fun time since
he was playing and singing so many songs that he loved so much and
he was becoming very comfortable on stage. Following Carnaby St, he
was in two more bands,' The Clark Bar 5".another pop 60's quintet band and an original band called "The Scene". At the same time while he was
recovering from a major injury from the fire department he decided
to change his life all together. He left the fire department and
opened up the retro ice cream parlor/restaurant called the
Soda Pop Shop. As the business grew and became
busy, he was forced to put his music away and concentrate on running
the shop. So after 8 years and ready for his next challenge, he
decided to sell his business get back into music and is in the
process of forming his next original band called "The
Spindles". He also has decided to team up with Kevin and
they will be working on a variety of projects from comedy, writing,
film, parodies, and much more which will be discussed as they move
along in their new venture. You can see some of their work on
